Position Description:
In this position you will be working within the Underwriting department for this growing business segment, reporting directly to the Underwriting Director and assist all underwriters as required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide support to underwriters to stay within compliance in respects to regulatory requirements and internal service standards.
- They may answer questions concerning policy status or on behalf of an underwriter or mgt.
- Provide support to management.
- Under the guidance of underwriters and supervisors, they may analyze applications and screen form/reports/policies based on certain criteria. (Review and respond on RFQ requirements)
- Depending upon work flow, may be responsible for duties ranging from customer service to clerical tasks to document control.
- Being able to organize is a major task of the underwriting assisting job.
- Keep documentation updated, including client communications, records tracking, and specification changes. -will also control and coordinate the filing of documentation as it relates to policies and other legal records.
- The underwriting assistant will follow up with customers to ensure accurate records and will likely field general questions about written and electronic forms, procedures, and practices.
- Underwriter assistants may ensure that policy transactions such as renewals or quotes are issued and changes are recorded correctly (BCS)
- Must have Strong written and verbal communication skills and must interact with other departments and management on a regular basis;
- Must be highly detail-oriented in order to spot problems with files;
- Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a time sensitive and high volume environment
- Organizational and time-management skills are a must to maximize productivity; Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a time sensitive and high volume environment; Prioritization skills and good attention to detail; Flexible and adaptable to changing direction, adjusting priorities and/or work on multiple tasks simultaneously; Ability to work autonomously
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ year of experience working in an administrative or support capacity within a professional business environment
- Must have general knowledge working with computer programs
- Current Microsoft Office proficiency; specifically Excel and Word
- Must have an aptitude towards strong mathematical skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related field is a plus
- Experience with insurance policies, knowledge of medical insurance terminology
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel: Creating pivot tables is preferred
