The Regional Account Executive will provide pharmacy benefit management expertise in direct support of UnitedHealthcare's (UHC) executive level sales and retention efforts for assigned region. Working closely with UHC Strategic Account Executives (SAE) and Account Executives (AE), develop customer target lists, pharmacy benefit sales strategies and plans and organize pharmacy resources to successfully sell and retain, UnitedHealthcare's pharmacy benefit program to employer customers. This position partners with the Regional Leadership at a strategic level to ensure the achievement of regional sales goals. Effectively communicate UnitedHealth Pharmaceutical Solutions (UHPS) value proposition directly to benefit executives of customers and prospects, and their benefit consultants or brokers.


 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • Understand the competitive landscape and effectively position UnitedHealth program against our competition



  • Organize internal pharmacy management resources as necessary to drive sales and retention of pharmacy management business



  • Deliver Value Proposition and related training to Health Plan Sales, Account Management, Underwriting and Health Plan leadership



  • Support regional and case specific underwriting needs. Provide timely and ongoing input into sales activity tracking and reporting



  • Perform other administrative/management responsibilities as necessary, and other responsibilities as assigned



  • Identify and pursue opportunities to retain and expand existing pharmacy management business



  • Channel customer needs and expectations into the pharmacy organization to ensure appropriate customer focus in the broader pharmacy organization's strategies, priorities, and initiatives including service performance



  • Work closely with the UHPS account team to ensure customer operational, clinical and analytical support requirements are met



  • Selectively deliver Annual Reviews to ASO & Fully Insured customers



  • Coordinate BOB initiatives with assigned HealthPlans, e.g. opt-out-processes



  • Deliver Value Proposition and related training, program updates to SAEs and AEs, Regional Vice Presidents/leadership and other areas such as Pharmacy Underwriting, as required



  • Meet regularly with Health Plan leadership to review progress relative to Business Plan, identifying deviations and related coarse-corrections, providing any UHPS updates and identifying additional/new opportunities



  • Support UHPS Program/initiatives roll-outs to assigned region/HPs



  • Monitor local (state) regulatory changes and report to UHPS corporate



  • Support local rider filings as needed, including addressing regulator follow-up questions, etc.



  • Support client or non-client audits as needed



 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:




  • 5 + years experience working in partnership with underwriting and finance



  • 5+ years experience with account management ensuring that existing clients are satisfied with and recognize



  • 5+ years experience establishing effective long-term relationships with assigned clients in order to gain understanding of their business objectives, drivers, and needs and to create an easy avenue for customers to communicate and work with Pharmacy



  • 5+ years experience consulting with clients to ensure they are utilizing Pharmaceutical Solutions to their greatest potential, understand all of the tools, benefits, programs, value propositions



  • 5 + years of experience working with understanding of pharmacy financials and pricing coupled with the ability to negotiate using the data



  • Previous experience and proven ability to retain and sell business



  • Willingness/ability to travel as required (25-35%)


Preferred Qualifications:




  • Bachelors degree or 4 years equivalent experience in healthcare sales/account management field



  • 5+ years of account management/sales experience in the PBM/RX industry
