A
Staff Accountant - Assurance Services is responsible for the preparation of working papers and analyses of financial activities to support conclusions regarding the accuracy of client assertions on audit, review and compilation engagements.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development of information to document the audit, review or compilation process as directed by Senior Accountants and management
Prepare analyses of business activities using automated tools such as accounting software and general business application software
Evaluate internal control systems and document findings
Develop recommendations for improvements in internal control and operational efficiency
Develop an understanding of accounting and auditing research sources and methodologies; begin research activities
Develop professional relationships with client personnel on all engagements
Use good judgment in determining the materiality of issues in their work
Offer constructive ideas for improving efficiencies on engagements
Prepare for and pass the CPA examination as soon as possible
Maintain appropriate level of marketing and sales activity, including but not limited to the following: - Create, develop and maintain Centers of Influence
- Become active member in Professional Organizations
- Meet with associates from other functions in the company to gain an understanding and/or educate others about all firm service offerings
- Participate in proposal preparation by researching information pertinent to prospect, industry, etc.
Pursue an ongoing course of study (CPE) which will result in maintaining and improving skills in generally accepted audit standards and generally accepted accounting principles
Qualifications/ Core Competencies
Baccalaureate degree from accredited college or university. Minor field of study in accounting; major preferred.
CPA preferred
Ability and willingness to learn

Strong written and oral communications skills
