UPS Supply Chain Solutions is seeking a Plant Engineering Supervisor to impact the organization by providing design, estimate and documentation support for various facilities modifications (new construction and improvements). A major responsibility is to produce and maintain project drawings, specifications, documents and contracts. Other key duties include estimating construction costs and scope for smaller projects involving improvements to existing structures, developing facility layouts, assisting in estimating project costs for multiple projects, and maintaining records and drawings of current facility configurations. A Facilities Engineer II  / Plant Engineering Supervisor works at the operating facilities to manage Facility Modifications, Maintenance, Asset Management, Compliance, Cost Control, and Housekeeping of multiple facilities. The Plant Engineering Supervisor will work with all business functions relating to facility issues including problem analysis and resolution, auditing, training, cost control and compliance. The Plant Engineering Supervisor reports to the DPE Manager or PE Manager.


Job Duties

  • Manage Facility Modifications of buildings and equipment including problem definition, analysis, feasibility study, appropriation, scope definition, drawing and specification development, estimating, contractor selection, permitting, bid solicitation and analysis, contract administration, quality assurance, commissioning, and project close-out.
  • Manage Facility Maintenance of buildings and equipment including Preventative Maintenance Inspections, Lease Terms verification, work prioritization, estimating, contractor selection, procurement, contractor management, administration.  The F.E. will also manage various facility initiatives and reporting including Facility Condition Reports.
  • Manage Equipment Assets including equipment selection and requisition, utilization tracking, and disposal
  • Manage Corporate Compliance programs for Environmental, Dock Safety, Product Compliance, and Fire Risk Management. Compliance tasks include program implementation, training, permitting, record-keeping, auditing, and reporting.
  • Manage Housekeeping program including frequency evaluation, schedule definition, vendor selection, and quality assurance.
  • Control facility related Costs including maintenance and housekeeping budgets, negotiate local vendor discounts, issue work orders, code and process invoices, cost tracking, expense analysis, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Coordinate maintenance of security and communications equipment.
  • Technical knowledge of A&E design practices, estimating, construction techniques, equipment industry standards, and contractor management.
  • Technical knowledge of standard preventative maintenance and repair procedures, root cause analysis, and analytical problem solving
  • Technical knowledge of applicable EPA, FDA, DEA, OSHA, etc. regulations for program management
  • Monitor projects, programs, and systems to ensure work meets time, cost, and quality parameters.  Balance schedule, cost, and quality of work.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in a related field or equivalent experience relevant to the job is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Facility Engineering, including construction, maintenance and compliance management.
  • Candidates must have technical knowledge of A&E design practices, estimating, construction techniques, equipment industry standards, and contractor management.
  • Candidates must have technical knowledge of standard preventive maintenance and repair procedures and root cause analysis.
  • Candidates must understand applicable EPA, FDA, DEA, OSHA, and other regulations involved in program management.
  • Candidates must be able to express complex thoughts clearly and simply; makes sure key points are communicated with clarity; is effective in both written and oral communications.
  • Candidates must be able to work cooperatively to meet organizational goals; draws on resources from groups and lends resources to groups; includes other functions and groups in problem-solving processes.
  • Candidates must be able to define clear, actionable and measurable plans; organizes work and sets priorities so everyone knows what to do. Analytical problem solver.
  • Competent on Microsoft Office, Access, and AutoCad
  • Proficiency in English required.
