Aerotek Professional Services is currently seeking Processing Technicians to work for our client, a a Donor Services Tissue Bank. Our client provides opportunities for organ, eye and tissue donation and facilitates the recovery and transplantation of these gifts.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Processes human tissue in a clean room environment.
  • Properly handles human tissue, surgical instruments, power equipment, chemical reagents and biohazardous waste according to standard operating procedures, applicable AATB standards and FDA regulations.
  • Prepares reports and records of processing, including graft and anatomical identification, measurements and data entry.
  • May assist in research requiring manipulation of tissues and equipment.
  • May assist in CSS activities.
  • Safely handles human tissue for transplantation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes musculoskeletal and orthopedic tissue, skin, cortical powder, cortical for demin, or other tissues to client specifications and processing protocols. Processing includes the cleaning, cutting, shaping, sizing, grinding, chemical and antibiotic treatment, preservation and other manipulations of human bones, tendons, ligaments, and other tissue intended for human transplantation. Identifies orthopedic anatomy in relation to landmarks, positions, and functions. Handles tissue according to processing client request and standard operating procedures.
  • Establish and maintains sterile environment within a clean room or laminar flow hood. Obtains specimens for bacteriological cultures and inoculates media. Breaks down, decontaminates, and disinfects clean room environment.
  • Performs initial Q.A. of graft / allograft for suitability based on SOP and specification. Inspects each graft for proper processing techniques, thorough removal of blood and lipids, and residual tissue.
  • Packages and labels graft materials, sham samples, and materials for discard and disposal. Inspects packaging material for flaws or defects. Completes processing charts work and enters processing information into DOTS.
  • Measures cultures and packages each allograft according to SOP's for each specific allograft type.
  • Completes processing chart work and entering processing information into DOTS.
  • Participates in cleaning schedule to ensure the clean room, hoods and inner core areas are well maintained.
  • Assists in coordinating inventory, receiving and stocking operational supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - High School diploma or equivalent. Medical or technical training preferred. Six (6) months experience in tissue banking preferred. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.

The hours of the position are Monday through Thursday from 6am to 4pm.
