The successful Medical Assistant candidate will be part of a team dedicated to improving the delivery and quality of health care that is patient-centered, safe and effective in a fast-paced environment. 


 


We are looking for Medical Assistants in each of our new Optum clinics:


Energy Corridor (77077)


Greenway (77027)


Baybrook (77598)


 


We expect our Medical Assistants to be a jack of all trade.  They will be responsible for completing vitals and blood draws.  The Medical Assistant will also assist with lab testing, x-rays, and front desk tasks as needed.  The responsibilities will be based on education, experience, appropriate training, and will only be permitted to the level of the medical assistant's capability.


 


Primary Responsibilities:





  • Report to the clinic manager



  • Accurately collect and record patient data including information about the reason they are presenting to the facility and previous medical conditions



  • Take vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight and temperature and documents all information in the patient's chart



  • Prepare patients for examinations



  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilizations as required



  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens



  • Prepare and administer injections/vaccinations



  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant



  • Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms with minor procedures



  • Perform basic x-rays and EKGs



  • Provide excellent customer service



  • All other duties as assigned by clinical manager

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or 3+ years of military trained MA experience

  • Minimum 1+ year of  clinical medical assistant experience with emphasis on excellent customer service, ability to multi-task, work as part of a collaborative team, and possess effective communication and decision making skills

  • CPR certified or willing to obtain upon hire

  • Effective communication skills

  • Demonstrate accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail

  • Takes initiative, creative, has  problem solving ability, is adaptable, and flexible

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
