Host/Hostess - Full-time / Part-time

The Restaurant Host/Hostess warmly greets guests on arrival. The incumbent answers telephones, takes reservations and manages the efficient and timely seating of guests to a table that best serves their wishes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Warmly and graciously greets all guests upon arrival.
• When possible, opens the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
• When immediate seating is limited, records guest names and number of people party, provides guests with estimated waiting time, maintains accurate list of seating priority and calls out name and number of party when tables become available
• Maintains professional and courteous attitude at all times.
• Seats guests based on guest preference and balancing of customer flow in service stations. Accommodates special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
• Upon seating, offers guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspects table for proper presentation and completeness.
• Relays messages to servers and bussers as needed.
• Maintains clean workstation including cleaning menus of food and stains.
• Thanks guests as they leave and invites them to return. Relays guest comments or suggestions to the manager on duty.
• Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
• Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior restaurant experience is preferred.
• Must complete ServSafe program.
• Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Must be non-smoker/tobacco user.

HOURS: Must be willing to work a varying schedule, weekends, evenings and holidays
