PERSONAL AUTO CONSULTANT—Credit Union Branch Location

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Personal Auto Consultant serves the Members of partner credit unions by providing them with a seamless and non-traditional way of buying a car. This position will assist in the coordination of every aspect of the purchase, guiding the consumer through the entire experience from research to delivery of the vehicle. The role of the Personal Auto Consultant is to act as a personal guide, making the process fun and easy while leveraging the enormous strength of AutoNation’s buying power, inventory and infrastructure.

The Personal Auto Consultants are located in the branches of our partner credit unions and serve both branch walk-in Members as well as Members who have requested vehicle and pricing information via an "e-lead."

They are expected to receive approximately 50 – 60 requests a month. This is not cold-calling. These are requests from people who are already interested in buying a car or receiving vehicle information through AutoNation Direct, and often pre-approved for auto loans through their respective credit union partner.

This is a high pressure, high visibility and high reward type of position. Only the best and most professional sales associates with a well-honed sense of Member service should apply.

HOW IT WORKS

The Personal Auto Consultant will respond to a request from a person interested in a car. This person may be looking for a specific make/model or they could just want some general information.

The Personal Auto Consultant then recommends or identifies a specific make/model, equipping it with specific options/colors, etc. (These cars come from inventory in one of AutoNation’s 250 dealerships and its extensive network of dealer partners)

Once they have identified and located the vehicle, they provide up-front, transparent pricing. The Consultant also coordinates the financing with the partner credit union.

They will also assist on the appraisal of any vehicle the Member may trade-in. This is done online, sight unseen.

Once the vehicle has been identified, financing approved, trade-in appraisal has been agreed, they will then arrange the delivery appointment at an AutoNation dealership or at the credit union branch. Consultants must be able to conduct an active trade appraisal and an effective vehicle delivery, including familiarizing the Member with the vehicle equipment and completing all the documentation.

HOURS

Credit union hours vary but, typically, they are open from 8 AM – 6 PM M – F. There are times when weekend tent sales or credit union events will require the Consultant’s presence.

COMPENSATION

Total compensation is comprised of a base component and incentives based on units sold, finance products sold and Member satisfaction scores.

The base component is paid bi-weekly, on the 10th and 25th of the month. All incentives are paid on the 25th of each month following the month they were earned. Example: Incentives earned in January will be paid out on February 25th.

TRAINING

The six-week training classes consist of 4 to 8 new employees. Training will be split approximately 50/50 between class rooms and shadow/on the job training.

Training will include software training for the approximately 6 proprietary systems that AutoNation Direct currently uses, as well as ADP and other standard industry systems.

Employees will be expected to use certain word tracks along with the company’s current methods and processes.
