The role of the Lead Developer is to design, develop and support application and database architecture solutions for the varied business units within Corporate and retail locations. This person works to define business and technical requirements and gain an understanding of the business to be effective at satisfying system requests. Key responsibilities of this position include: point of contact with business owners to define, design, code and lead development efforts of requirements given time and budget constraints as well as development project management duties.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage project development life cycle from design and planning to delivery.
  • Create consistent and accurate technical and end-user documentation of implemented applications, databases and systems.
  • Perform detailed planning and estimation of work effort involved in the development, and support of solutions.
  • Analyze problems as assigned and provide solutions to address business needs.
  • Measure progress toward goals and revise work plans as appropriate.
  • Designate work assignments and perform appropriate follow up to ensure that tasks are completed on time.
  • Designs, develops, and implement highly-complex, reliable, and scalable systems to meet the organization's business objectives and requirements.
  • Define application development standards and architecture for enterprise applications.
  • Mentor developers for best practice methodology and programming standards.
  • Define processes and procedures to improve the development team’s productivity, focusing on resolving problems raised by team members.
  • Designs, develops, and implement highly-complex, reliable, and scalable databases to meet the organization's business objectives and requirements.
  • Define database development standards and architecture for enterprise and application databases.
  • Define and document the technical architecture of application databases, enterprise databases, and the data warehouse.
  • Address data modeling, indexing strategies, database objects maintenance (size and physical location), processing patterns and CPU usage management, temporary space and rollback segments, RAID implementation, and other technical issues.
  • Determine the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source systems and platforms. Implement ETL and other data movement requirements.
  • Work closely with the operational DBAs to help ensure the physical design meets the functional and performance requirements of the databases.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or similar field is required.
  • 5-10 years experience with Windows, Web, and SQL development.
  • Minimum 5 years designing, developing, and supporting databases (Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, XML).
  • Minimum 5 year designing, developing, and supporting multi-dimensional databases (Microsoft SSAS, MDX).
  • Previous leadership, project management and business analysis experience.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • .NET, ASP.NET, C# development, MSMQ, SOAP, XML, Dundas Dashboard.
  • Experience with Object Oriented designs, middle-ware architectures, distributed computing solutions.
  • Cube design and MDX development in Microsoft Analysis Services.
  • Experience with ETL and other data movement strategies
