Southwest Medical Associates (SMA) is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, consisting of over 200 providers, fourteen clinical locations including nine health care centers, five urgent care clinics and an outpatient surgery center. SMA offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout southern Nevada. SMA is headquartered in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.


 


This Associate Patient Care Coordinator receives direction from Supervisor of Clinic Operations and RN Manager to support the SMA Siena Heights Urgent Care location . Works cooperatively with all members of the care team and supports patient satisfaction goals.  This position is vital to keeping patient wait times to a minimum, maintaining the highest standards of customer service, processing patient charges correctly, maintaining efficient patient flow and insuring patient safety in the patient waiting areas.


 


Primary Responsibilities: 





  • Responsible to greet patient and check patients in and out. Ensure demographics including insurance information are correct in IDX. Updates as necessary



  • Confirms Primary Care Physician with patient at check in. Notifies case management staff for HPN patient without defined PCP. Schedule appointments as necessary



  • Enter charges correctly and collect appropriate payments



  • Answer phones and take messages or route incoming calls as per company policy. Document all calls and messages appropriately according to company policy



  • Responsible for waiting room management and implementation of efficient customer friendly processes



  • Work with back/front office staff to ensure smooth patient flow



  • Communicate with clinical and clerical personnel about service issues and complaints



  • Assist co-workers and team members with duties when requested, to include but not limited to, floating to other areas



  • Handles patient calls accessing EMR and addressing patient concerns



  • Notifies patients of abnormal results with direction from provider or RN



  • Other duties as assigned



 

Requirements

Required Qualifications: 



  • High school Diploma or GED

  • Intermediate proficiency with Windows based applications

  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays (12 hour shifts)

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Must possess independent means of transportation available during work hours for job related tasks

Preferred Qualifications:



  • 1 or more years of Medical Office experience

  • Medical Assistant degree and experience

  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • CPR certification
