The Information Security Engineer will be responsible for providing
engineering design, analysis, and development for various information security
tools and operating systems.
Positions in this function develop and implement information security policies, standards and procedures to secure and protect data residing on systems. Work directly with user departments to implement procedures and systems for the protection, conservation and accountability of proprietary, personal or privileged electronic data.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Researches,
designs, and implements information security solutions for organization systems
and products that comply with all applicable security policies and standards - Works with
IT and vendor partners to ensure that security is factored in the
evaluation, selection, installation and configuration process of hardware and
software - Analyzes and makes
recommendations to improve network, system, and application architectures - Based on
indicators received from other teams, tune and optimize security tools - Assists in responding to audits, penetration
tests and vulnerability assessments - Define requirements and integrate dissimilar
security tools
Requirements
- BS or MA in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in information security, especially in a security engineering role
- Technical expertise in network security knowledge, to include VPN, Firewall, network monitoring, intrusion detection, web server security, and wireless security
- Knowledge of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques
- Knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
- Practical experience with database security, content filtering, vulnerability scanning, and anti-malware
- Proficiency with at least one scripting language (e.g.: Perl, Python)
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain favorable
adjudication following submission of Department of Defense form SF86 .
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) a plus
- Knowledge
of HIPAA and other health care related regulations a plus
As
a requirement of UnitedHealth Group's contract with the Department of Defense, this
position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication
following submission of Department of Defense form SF86 ,
(the National Agency Check or “NACâ€).
Successful completion of the NAC process is a requirement for continued
employment in this role. NAC processing
will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer, and can take 3-6
months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin
employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance,
and final results will be communicated as they are received. Failure to obtain final NAC approval will
result in termination from this role.
