Our client in Dexter, MI is currently seeking a Research and Development Engineer to join their team. The selected candidate is responsible for new product innovation in cooperation with sales/marketing requirements and also the creation and development of differentiated and patentable designs and technologies. Job duties include, but are not limited: * Designing, developing, and testing products following the new product innovation processes. * Managing, researching, and designing projects within requirements. * Providing prototype and experimental designs as required. Making sketches and rough layouts, recording and analyzing data, making calculations and estimates, and reporting on the findings. * Following continuous improvement processes set forth by the team leader * Using Syteline and SolidWorks to produce and analyze designs, simulate and test how a design operates, and generate specifications for the products. * Identifying issues/problems, developing plans to eliminate, and participating in execution plans. * Assisting in competitive product analysis. * Participating in research and development strategies including brainstorming, prototype builds, testing documentation, materials, equipment and processes, evaluation and participation as well as intellectual properties. * Assisting other departments in the solicitation of new product innovations. * Ensuring all products conform to the most recent and applicable standards and recommending manufacturing processes that are capable of producing products that will consistently conform to those standards. * Implementing and supervising product, prototype, and experimental testing programs utilizing and advancement in state of the art engineering equipment/tools for innovation and testing, lab, and field. * Supplying technical information and working closely with other departments to actively seek out ideas for new products and redesigns of existing products. * Researching, specifying, and approving all non-standard purchased components and assisting with the procurement of said components within the scope of research and development projects and as requested. Preferred qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or agricultural engineering is required. * Prior experience in a manufacturing or field service environment; along with hydraulic and electrical circuits, design and analysis in a construction or agricultural environment. * Proficient computer skills including: CAD modeling, Fundamental Elemental Analysis and MS Office applications. * Experienced team member with an innovative approach; a self-starter who enjoys the challenge of implementing continuous improvement activities; a high level of accuracy and experience.
