POSITION PURPOSE -
The ideal candidate will design and implement new software deployment processes which will take advantage of new technology.
Improve current software deployment processes to make them more effective and/or friendly to the customer. as well as set standards for software intake and packaging.
- The Sr. Systems Engineer develops, maintains and supports The Home Depot's technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components for moderately complex projects.
- Performs configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms on moderately complex projects.
- Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures and present to managEment.
- Perform store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. Ability to present ideas and manage projects. Interface with Business Stakeholders on complex projects. Update manager on escalated issues. May operate as a team lead guiding newer associates or interns.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY - - Perform installation, maintenance and support of system software, hardware and infrastructure and user support for moderately complex projects. May oversee this effort if acting in team lead capacity.
- Perform store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation.
- Perform configuration, debugging and support for infrastructure platform for moderately complex projects.
- Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures.
- Provide technical direction to System and Associate Engineers, Operations Specialists, and contractors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, operating systems and system software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Red Hat Certified Engineer or equivalent experience
Puppet Enterprise experience (1yr)
HP Server Automation/Opsware experience (1yr)
Spacewalk/Satellite experience (1yr)
Change control and software deployment experience in a large distributed environment (1yr)
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
- Solid knowledge of the PC (hardware and software) is essential.
- Ability to listen to what the user is saying and then interrpret what he/ she is trying to get across.
