As a member of Shared Services Reporting & Analysis, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for recurring and ad-hoc reporting and analysis for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. This position will generate complex reporting and analytics across a broad spectrum of the senior living and healthcare businesses that Brookdale currently operates in, including: independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, home health, outpatient therapy and hospice. This individual must be detail-oriented, have strong technical and analytical skills, possess the competency to understand the business and user requirements, build actionable reports and clearly communicate the findings from analysis to those leaders best suited to influence change. This person must fully understand our revenue cycle and partner with the Shared Services, Financial Planning & Analysis, General Ledger as well as other teams to ensure consistencies in reporting, analysis and reserve calculations.

Key responsibilities include:
* Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly reporting/scorecards for use by Shared Services teams and other functional areas to drive cost, cash flow, and productivity gains
* Write and build reports to pull required data
* Fulfill ad-hoc data & analysis requests related to AR and AP
* Perform monthly variance analysis versus budget for $15 million annual G&A expense for Shared Services departments and facilitate annual budget development and quarterly projections
* Assist in preparation of monthly AR analysis packages and executive summary for distribution to executive leadership in Accounting, Finance, and Operations
* Champion productivity improvement within Shared Services departments through the use of Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement tools that result in improvements of 20% or more
* Develop and maintain monitors, controls, procedures and reports for SOX compliance for various areas, including: Medicare A, outpatient therapy billing, revenue certification, etc.

We seek the following principal qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) in finance, accounting or business administration from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Advanced PC skills: experience with financial systems/applications and strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, vlookups, and macros).
* Database reporting/querying experience with Access, Crystal or related reporting tools strongly preferred
* Ability to write SQL queries
* Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
* Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels, functions and regions; able to deliver clear written and verbal communication regarding complex financial information
