The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing quantitative surveys and accurate pricing for General Contractor bid proposals.
Responsibilities include not only preparing accurate estimates, but also excellent analytical and communicative skills to convey intricate issues related to the budget with the Project Manager, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Core Requirements
- Competent in performing cost estimating, with specific emphasis in Commercial, Multifamily Residential, Resort, Retail and Institutional type building projects. Estimating projects ranging from $50k to $50M
- Ability to interpret and comprehend construction drawings, specifications, and Contracts. Strong understanding of the local subcontractor market.
- Prepare estimates for self-perform work including Concrete, CMU, Rough & Finish Carpentry.
- Experience with unit pricing and an understanding of production rates.
- Experience with analyzing scopes of work and identifying missing scope for all CSI divisions
- Develop preliminary construction schedules.
- Excellent with developing spreadsheet and working with database software.
- Good verbal and written communications skills are required.
- Good presentation skills and interpersonal communication and team management skills are also required.
- Experience in Preconstruction.
- Produce comparative cost studies and value engineering alternatives.
- Experience with determining budgetary allowances, soft costs and qualifications.
- Experience in Organizing and Managing.
- Organize and handoff estimates to Project Manager
- Assist in maintaining company's historical estimating data base.
- Develop a strategy to win work.
Other Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in estimating.
- BS Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Field experience is a plus
- Experience with On-Center and Quick Bids estimating programs a plus.
- Ability to prepare Conceptual Estimates from schematic documents is preferable
- Experience in a variety of project delivery methods including hard bid, negotiated, Design Build and Design Assist projects is preferable
