Payroll Production Manager
Primary Job Responsibilities
Payroll Production:
* Manages day-to-day activities and provides general direction to approximately 11 non-exempt associates
* Manage and guarantee weekly/bi-weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments to 50k (80k in season) employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
* Adherence to all relevant payroll, employment, and income tax laws, regulations, and operating guidelines. Updates staff on changes and/or modifications.
* Wage attachment (garnishment) process. Ensures appropriate application of all State and Federal compliance regulations
* Proper set up and tax treatment of compensation and fringe benefits
* Year-end tasks, special runs and adjustments
* Responsible for periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors
* Critical thinking and problem solving
* Balancing of workload during peak production periods
* Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
Staff Development:
* Committed to staff training, coaching, motivating, and evaluating staff performance
* Develop challenging personal goals for self and staff and holds all parties (including self) accountable for achieving such goals
* Ability to analyze organizational problems and develop effective courses of action
* Manages payroll related project and other duties assigned
Business Skills/Experience Requirements:
* 7 - 10 years of extensive experience of working within a large company setting
* Strong supervisory skills
* Must be a team player
* Must be extremely organized
* Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job
* Ability to perform well in a challenging and complex environment
* Willing to perform a hands-on support role during busy periods
* Ceridian (or other similar application) HR/Payroll Web experience preferred
* Knowledge in PeopleSoft HR and Time/Labor system preferred (but not required)
* Inquisitive mind that is pre-disposed to try and determine the underlying issues which create processing and/or control problems
* Strong ability to multi-task and manage details
* Possess solid financial analytical skills and an orientation to control
* Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently
* Excellent guest service skills and aptitude to work in a customer service oriented team environment
* Knowledge in Access, Excel, Word, Outlook.
