Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Technical Operations Supervisor for our Technical Operations Department in Pittsfield, MA.
Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Purpose:
Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of underground and aerial cable television lines and equipment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.
Job Responsibilities:

- Supervises, coaches, schedules, motivates, and disciplines cable technicians. Includes recognizing, practicing and enforcing safety rules and procedures.
*Performs complex field jobs and handles challenging customer service issues through effective verbal communications.
*Maintains inventory of tools for the technicians and reorders when required.
*Conducts monthly field safety checks on assigned employees to ensure a high quality of work has been performed and safety procedures are being properly followed.
*Conducts monthly performance reviews for technicians that are assigned to them.
*Acts as a liaison with inter-company departments to maintain effective communications and customer service.
*Provides feedback to Technical Operations Manager on technician performance.
*Reviews weekly productivity reports to evaluate the quantity of work performed by subordinates.
*Inspects service vehicles on a monthly basis for sufficient stock of equipment and tools, neatness and ensures proper maintenance of the vehicle.
*Is knowledgeable of and committed to a diverse workforce and supports the Division EEO/AA goals.
*Cultivates a positive and respectful work environment through employee education, positive reinforcement, modeling the behavior, providing adequate work tools, and administering policies fairly and consistently.
*Routinely rides with technicians to coach and better understand obstacles, issues, etc.
*Routinely floats between assigned systems to have a regular presence and to provide support in each system.
*Balances time in the field with minimal time in the office.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization ' s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications/Skill Set:
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in using necessary tools and equipment, including but not limited to screw drivers, pliers, shovels, ladders, various test meters, SLM, VOM, DVM, leakage detection and 2-way radio.
- Familiarity with OSHA, FCC and Time Warner Cable supervisory and office procedures, programming choices and prices.
- General knowledge of the city and map reading, radio procedures,
- Knowledge of National Electric Codes related to construction, maintenance, materials and design.
- Ability to use computer.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is desired.
- Valid driver ' s license and safe driving record.
Education:
- Associate ' s degree in Electronic Communications, Telecommunications or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years experience as a Service Technician in the cable industry or related experience preferred.
- Demonstrated performance of consistently meeting TWC quality standards required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Customer Communication:
- Interacts extensively with internal and external customers over the phone including corporate business units, other cable divisions, outside vendors, and multiple internal departments.
Legal or Financial Responsibilities:
Requires adherence to Time Warner Standards of Business Conduct. Position must assist in maintaining the confidentiality of customer and business data at all times.
