POSITION PURPOSE
The Sr. Manager of Organizational Effectiveness (OE) is responsible for leading a team of professionals in the design of assessment solutions to drive a highly engaged and effective workforce at The Home Depot. The OE team develops state-of-the-art selection and development processes to include: testing, structured interview protocols, and assessment centers. They also design and administer enterprise wide survey solutions, including associate opinion and exit surveys. They lead research projects focused on increasing associate and leader effectiveness and engagement. They work closely aligned with Legal and Employment Practices professionals to ensure that OE systems and processes are compliant with employment laws and Home Depot policies.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provides strategic direction, clear expectations, value added expertise, project oversight, coaching, counseling and career development to team.
- Serves as primary expert in the areas of individual and organizational assessment.
- Partners with Human Resource functions (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning, etc.) and functional leaders to ensure effective enterprise-wide applicability and ease of execution.
- Drives key deliverables to completion: surveys, assessments, and other tools/processes.
NATURE AND SCOPE
- Typically reports to Sr. Director, Talent Management & Org Effectiveness
- Accountable for the management of a department through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Located in a comfortable indoor area.
- Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must pass the Drug Test
- Must pass the Background Check
- Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Ph.D. program in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 10 years
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may need to move or lift light articles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Senior management experience in a directly related role that includes OE/OD and includes responsibility for development of employee selection processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. Industrial/Organizational Psychology or closely related field
- Extensive experience building and validating assessments for selection and development
- Extensive experience building and managing employee opinion surveys
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
- Expert technical knowledge in I/O Psychology and/or Organizational Behavior/Development
- Able to drive solutions that are practical, simple to implement, client-centered
- Able to inspire achievement; capable of successfully leading a team of highly qualified I/O psychologists or their equivalent
- Excellent ability to build relationships and work across organizational boundaries at multiple levels
- Outstanding project management skills
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills; able to translate complex ideas into simple to understand language and relate it effectively to senior leaders
- Able to influence decision makers in areas with which they might be unfamiliar
- Expertise using SPPS; solid statistical analysis and advanced quantitative skills
