Description

Jr Staff Accountant

Jr Staff Accountant supports the Finance Dept. with routine and non-routine duties with emphasis on general ledger management, account reconciliations, journal entry postings, financial reporting, accounts payable, corporate G&A forecast and budgeting, as well as special projects. Also the liaison between the office and corporate for accounts payable issues. Responsible for misc. projects as assigned by manager. Completes these projects with minimal supervision.

Duties include:
  • Support the finance manager and accountant with month end close activities, including analysis of expense accounts and posting corresponding journal entries.
  • Review profit center expense account detail for utilities, repairs & maintenance, and occupancy for accruals needed or miscodings and prepare corresponding je's.
  • Maintain the Fastrak (bridge tolls) account for all the branches. Obtain the daily transactions in account. Distribute the cost of the fees for the month between the branches by how often the branch vehicles cross the bridge.
  • Work as the liaison between the branch office managers and AP in Plano. Any issues the office managers have with invoices not being paid or any other issues relating to AP. In addition, prepare check request for utility bills for NW branches, business license renewals, other city/state correspondence
  • Prepare, upload, and manually enter monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare account reconciliation for general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for acting on outstanding reconciliation items in a timely manner. Identify and resolve differences through interaction with other departments and utilization of reconciliation aids from SAP.
  • Monthly financial reporting preparation and analysis of financial variances to Budget and Prior Year.
  • Manage and file Business License renewals and other required government filings.
  • Miscellaneous research projects as assigned by manager.
  • Special Projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • 1-3 Years of experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Windows based programs.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Admin, or Bachelors Science in Finance from an Accredited University, and 1-3 years of related experience.
