Within our Architectural Coatings business, we produce paints, stains, and specialty coatings under the PPG Pittsburgh® Paints, PPG Olympic® Paints and Stains, and PPG Porter® Paints brands, and service the North American coatings industry across three channels.

PPG has recently completed the acquisition of the AkzoNobel North American Architectural Coatings business. This acquisition provides our newly combined Trade organization a tremendous platform for profitable growth. This acquisition enables us to now operate in 900 retail stores, sell through over 5,000 dealer stores and supply product to large home improvement retailers, such as Lowe's and Home Depot. This acquisition also brings a portfolio of well established brands to PPG such as Glidden, Glidden Professional, Ralph Lauren Paint, Devoe Coatings and Martha Stewart Living paints; Flood, Sikkens and Synteko woodcare products; plus Liquid Nails adhesives and caulks.

PPG Architectural Coatings is searching for an experienced Sr. Channel Manager-Walmart/THD (Cranberry Twp).

The Sr. Channel Manager-Walmart/THD is focused on the development of the strategy and implementation of the plan to build preference for PPG products in North America across THD and Walmart home centers. This individual will work to avoid channel conflict where possible while delivering on the specific brand, channel and retailer needs. They are a key source of information in the development of shopper insight and work with the Insight team to use insight to build differentiation for our brands and products within the channel. They are focused on maximizing profitability within the channel by leveraging a pricing strategy built on marketplace and product knowledge. They establish short and long-term performance measures. They must understand the brand positioning and maintain to core brand elements while working with the channel/retailer to build brand preference. They are a coach & mentor for the channel marketing team, providing development opportunities that leverage marketing talent.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

Lead the development of channel specific marketing strategies across North America that increase brand preference within the channels by linking to the primary occasions within the channels. Includes in-store communication, assortment decisions, fixture development, promotions, pricing,and sales team and associate engagement.

Develop the foundation for marketing plans within the channel; partner with Insight team to develop actionable insights that will be used for product innovation and renovation initiatives, assortment, services, merchandising and collateral. Focus on the development of POS promotions and associate training.

Develop and implement a pricing strategy across channels and retailers based on competitive analysis of market pricing, benchmarking from the Product team, brand positioning and shopper insight.

Maximize the channel marketing budgets to align with spend objectives of brand and volume buiding and/or competitive response. Utilize ROI tools where appropriate and ensure all spend is captured and approved prior to commitment using SAP/MEA guidelines.

Coach/Develop/Mentor direct reports to build capability and benchstrength at all levels of the channel marketing team.

Model behavior that integrates the brand, channel and product teams to ensure excellent collaboration and represents the best interest of PPG across North America.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate must have thorough knowledge in the areas of brand and channel marketing and have knowledge of all channels of distribution.

10-15 years of prior Marketing experience including understanding retailer, channel and primary painting/adhesives/stain occasions leveraging brand point of difference to create preference within the channel. Knowledge of home center channel is a plus.

Strong knowledge of fixture development, promotions, pricing, sales team and associate training, assortment decisions and excellent category management knowledge.

Superior analytical and financial skills and strong budget management skills are crittical.
Ability to lead through leaders, excellent communication and leadership skills, able to work effectively in a highly matrix organization.

The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex and often stressful environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or business related field required, an advanced marketing degree or MBA is a plus.
