Key Responsibilities


The Global Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for leading and implementing product regulatory compliance and materials management programs to assure that products are developed, sold, distributed, transported, used and disposed of in compliance with product compliance regulations. Such regulations include product hazard communication requirements, chemical and product inventory control regulations (i.e., TSCA, DSL, REACH, etc.) and product-related requirements (compliance with VOC regulations, import / export permits, etc.) applicable at the global, regional, national and local levels. Compliance programs will be established in accordance with PPG Corporate requirements and Specialty Coatings and Materials business as well as the fiberglass business requirements while optimizing use of regional product stewardship resources. The position must communicate effectively to all levels of SBU management to effectively integrate programs, implement technically sound yet cost effective solutions, and achieve compliance.
The principal functions of this position:
  • Coordinates, guides and mentors regional product stewardship managers, supervisors and SBU-shared resources. Promotes the exchange of knowledge between these incumbents and develops a system to optimize their skills and expertise in specific areas, globally.
  • Directs implementation of the PPG Product Stewardship Management System to ensure consistency and communication between regions, and sustainability of the system into the future.
  • Point of contact for customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance, use, disposal and other product stewardship concerns that are global in nature. Serves to ensure consistency in handling of customer inquiries across regions.
  • Communication of regulatory and Corporate requirements to the Global business team.
  • Responsible for identifying emerging issues (such as regulation changes, chemicals being deselected, etc) globally and then communicating such issues to affected parties, including SBU leadership and Corporate Product Stewardship.
  • Responsible for leading chemical control compliance programs, product registrations and import and export compliance. Supports implementation of safety data sheet and product labeling programs and raw material introduction programs following Corporate Product Stewardship guidance. Supports development and implementation of SBU processes that ensure program compliance. Updates procedures and systems consistent with Corporate practices including Corporate Global Product Stewardship (GPS) and central Raw Material Management programs.
  • Manages and directs the SBU Global Product Stewardship function, and is integrated into SBU Sales, Marketing and Technical groups. The incumbent is linked to Corporate Product Stewardship to develop and execute successful strategies and efficient programs for chemical notification and product registration and introductions globally.


Qualifications

Experience and Education

B.S. in Chemistry, Engineering, or related science, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Advanced degree, science or MBA, preferred. Product stewardship/product compliance or relevant EHS knowledge required. Ability to operate globally across multiple disciplines also required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
