Key Responsibilities
The incumbent contributes to the profit objectives of the APA Decorative market segment by assisting in the development and testing of new coatings that reflect quality and meet customer requirements. The incumbent will support product development via preparing laboratory quantities of paint, carrying out design of experiments (DOE) studies, coatings application and performance testing. The incumbent will also be responsible for interacting with plant production personnel and QA personnel to assist with problem resolution as it pertains to formulas. Overall direction and priorities are provided by the team leader and / or chemist

Qualifications

Experience and Education
High school chemistry and algebra are required. The incumbent should have experience in a Technical or Quality Control lab environment.

Functional and Technical Skills
An understanding, experience and ability to work with a broad range of coating technologies and process equipment is desired. Ability to understand, record and verbalize detailed information accurately is required. Excellent attendance required as well as the ability to work independently. Some college chemistry and math are desirable as well as knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques. Initiative and strong work ethic are ideal.
Must successfully complete the Technician Test Battery.
