Photovoltaic Reliability Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

The successful candidate will be responsible for reliability lab operations including the development of test methods, selection of appropriate test equipment, and performance of testing at the cell and panel levels. They will work closely with the cell and module development teams to improve product design, material selection, and manufacturing methods.

Duties:

• Evaluate product designs to ensure compliance in the final design
• Definition and execution of reliability test plans, including parts testing, data analysis and charting
• Assist in performing failure analysis to determine the root cause of power loss in cells, strings, and panels.
• Define the necessary capabilities of the reliability lab including tool definition, vendor identification, and facility requirements.
• Evaluation of new packaging, interconnection and assembly techniques for solar cells and modules through design-of-experiments and hands-on development/​prototyping

Requirements:

• Education: B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or a Photovoltaic discipline, M.S. preferred
• Must be hands on and comfortable with hardware
• Must have good understanding of photovoltaic panel reliability tests
• Must be able to work independently and safely with minimum direction
• Must interface successfully with engineers and personnel of other disciplines
• Must be able to perform data analysis, specifically knowledge of statistical methods required to evaluate reliability test results
• Must possess good communication skills with the ability to present and defend product reliability performance
