Responsibilities

Summary

Design, implement and support solutions involving IP Telephony / voice over IP and emerging voice / data technologies.  IPT Engineer is responsible for the design and technical accuracy for converged voice and data solutions with a focus on Cisco IP Telephony. The position will produce integrated solutions designs and support documentation to support customer IP Telephony requirements. Main focus will be steady state engineering fluent in Cisco CUCM, Unity and CER.  Responsible for ensuring day-to-day operational integrity and will also work on change requests on converged technologies for large enterprise customer. The Engineer will occasionally be responsible for presentations and product demonstrations in support of the sales team.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Design, planning, and implementation within the voice/data infrastructure
  • Development and implementation of physical design and the technical architecture of the network by analyzing existing data and voice networks and recommend solutions
  • Setting up, configuring, and testing any/all:  Cisco Unity, Unity Express, Call Manager, Call Manager Express, LAN switches (core, distribution and access), firewalls, routers and voice gateways, etc.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining hardware/software products as well as upgrading and providing solutions to complex problems
  • Ensuring a stable performance environment
  • Participating on projects intended to improve/upgrade converged solutions

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; Equivalent work experience is acceptable.
  • 5+ years related progressive experience in infrastructure/network data and voice environments;
  • Experience in network engineering (hardware and software), network security practices, designing, planning and implementing LANs and WANs
  • Experience in PBX and/or Call Center systems engineering experience a plus
  • Experience with router configuration, knowledge of voice mail, unified messaging, ACD and IVR systems
  • Experience with scripting and call flows.
  • Experience with Cisco UCCE a plus. 
  • Engineer must demonstrate hands on experience with call control, voicemail, CER and overall voice infrastructure. 
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent technical certification required.  Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE  R&S or CCIE Voice) preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of the industry, supplies, suppliers and capabilities
  • Ability to work weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet clients' needs
  • Ability to travel.  This position may require travel, locally and nationally up to 25%.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills which include demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations from a business perspective
  • The ability to organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple assignments as well as provide timely and accurate project completion estimates will be vital to success.
  • Engineer must be capable of being self-directed and able to work effectively in a teaming environment both with and without direct supervision.
