Key Responsibilities

The coordinator is the field expert on technical and mechanical issues associated with liquid prime, basecoat, and clearcoat applications systems. The incumbent must maintain a high level of industry and market expertise with respect to product use, application, new growth opportunities, competitive challenges, technology, cost, manufacturing capabilities, customer service, safety and environmental issues. In addition, when necessary, the Coordinator may provide the field Technical Service Representatives and Site Regional Manager with up-to-date technical information on the equipment operations and advise them on the required standards of operation.

This position provides technical and launch guidance to the Automotive Team when launching new facility start-up or new technology launches/conversions. The incumbent is to maintain a functional relationship with the Site Mgrs. Although the coordinator has no direct subordinates, he/she is in constant contact with the Technical Service Representatives, Regional Managers, and the Automotive team engineers. Assisting as required in resolving non-routine problems, establishing operating standards, and performing as required audits on customer operations are key areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

This position requires at least 10 years of Paint Applications Process or Paint Process Engineering Experience - preferred candidate would have B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Specific skills relating to robotic paint application are required as is an understanding robotic path programming with and experience in Painting Atomizers and process both Liquid and Powder.

Functional and Technical Skills

Specific skills relating to robotic paint application are required. Understanding of, and ability to perform robotic path programming are required. Ability to apply robotic path skills as part of paint application process optimization is required. Effective human relations, verbal, and written communication skills are also requirements. Incumbent must be self-motivated and able to work independently. The incumbent must have an operational understanding of statistics and statistical control procedures and applications. Personal computer skills will be needed for problem solving, data gathering/reporting, and communication needs. Formal as well as informal reports will need to be written on each project as well as a monthly report summarizing audit information.

Creativity and challenges exist in responding to varying project launch conditions and situations across the OEM teams and in defining a course of action. Effective human relations skills are required in order to influence a course of action and in dealing directly with customers.
