The health care markets are evolving in many different ways and analytics are becoming increasingly important to support strategic initiatives of health plans and risk bearing providers.  In particular, the use of episode grouping methodologies and risk assessment tools is critical to under the needs of populations, designing medical management programs to support those needs, and identifying provider network opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements along with medical cost savings. Optum is seeking a senior analytic leader in its consulting organization to provider subject matter expertise in the area of clinical and network-based analytics. 


 


 


This position is responsible for developing analytic solutions, identifying consulting opportunities and managing consulting engagements in the areas of Quality, Population Health, and Network Management. 



 


Primary Responsibilities:




  • Industry thought leader in clinical, quality, and network management analytics

  • Lead development of new consulting products and services to meet emerging customer needs around the strategic uses of analytics

  • Act as a subject matter expert around the Impact and Symmetry Suite of tools and custom solutions leveraging their algorithms

  • Oversee a team of analytic solution architects developing custom analytics for clients in the clinical, quality, and network spaces

  • Serve as a key member of the Health Care Analytics leadership team

  • Coordinate consulting activities with adjacent practices, sub-practices and product offerings

  • Meet revenue and IOI objectives

Requirements


Required Qualifications:




  • PhD in a quantitative Health Related Field (e.g., Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Economics) or MD

  • 10+ years subject matter expertise in provider performance measurements and population health analytics with heavy emphasis on application of risk scores, episode based methodologies and gap in care measures

  • Strong business development background in a consulting environment

  • 10+ years health care background with understanding of claims, membership, provider network, and  quality improvement

  • 5+ years management experience with ability to manage a team of consultants and subject matter experts

  • Experience and credibility interacting with C-level executives, including medical directors

  • Experience developing new business and identifying add-on work

  • Ability to travel up to 50%; location of residence is flexible

  • Expertise with Optum's Symmetry tools and Impact Suite of products or similar products
