About this job

Positions in this function are responsible for checking in, scheduling appointments, answering billing questions and managing patient medical records for a clinic. Roles may vary based on the size of the clinic(s).


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Timely input of skilled authorizations that will support claims payment to contracted SNF, coordinating with key contacts within UHC to coordinate hospital and SNF benefits for Optum CarePlus Program

  • Monitors clinical EMR frequently and assigns patients to clinicians timely and accurately

  • Develops program reports for internal and external customers

  • Accurate and timely response to customer questions & issues

  • Access insurance plan systems to verify insurance eligibility/benefits for patients and seek additional information as necessary

  • Input/update patient demographic data into computer system

  • Update/upload patient care data (e.g., care plan data, inpatient data, patient program flags) in computer systems

  • Manage hospital utilization reports, assignment of new members to NP, retrospective review of hospitalization tracking, management of databases

  • Acts as a Backup Business Segment Liaison (BSL)

  • Applies knowledge/skills to a range of moderately complex activities

  • Demonstrates great depth of knowledge/skills in own function

  • Sometimes acts as a technical resource to others in own function

  • Proactively identifies solutions to non-standard requests

  • Solves moderately complex problems on own

  • Works with team to solve complex problems

  • Plans, prioritizes, organizes and completes work to meet established objectives

  • May coordinate work of other team members

  • Must be skilled in computer systems and data entry

  • Self starter, initiative and demonstrated problem solving skills

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • HS Diploma/GED

  • 1+ year of customer service experience

  • 1+ year of experience utilizing the telephone and computer simultaneously to perform the job duties

  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced MS Excel skills (able to create spreadsheets and add formulas to those spreadsheets)

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

  • Previous experience in patient care coordination
