Summary Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and other production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Tracks and monitors preventative fleet and equipment maintenance programs to ensure all inspections and
maintenance work is performed as scheduled and/or as required by company policy or local, state or federal
regulation.
Completes oil changes and performs regular preventative maintenance on equipment and
vehicles.
Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and
determine need for adjustment or repair.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Repairs or replaces defective parts.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricates and cleans parts.
Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction or to test performance.
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair
parts.
Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
Sharpens tools such as blade, shears, and other metal equipment used for cutting.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Depending on the geographic location, current driver's license may be required for test driving vehicles after repair or to pick up parts from a local store.
