Summary Trims and removes trees around residential, industrial, commercial, or public property by climbing or aerial lift techniques used in arbor work by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Climbs trees using climbing with ropes and saddle, other arbor climbing techniques, or with the aid of an aerial lift device. Works from the ground using pole saws and prunes, hand pruners, loppers and gasoline-powered saws. Trims and removes trees from client properties. Drags brush and limbs over rough and uneven terrain. Uses mechanic power equipment and hand tools to cut, shape, and remove trees. Completes pre-job hazard surveys and sets up work site to ensure proper safety guidelines issued by the Company and regulatory guidelines are followed. Monitors and inspects assigned tools and equipment to ensure proper care, use, functionality and full inventory of Company vehicles, equipment, and tools. Loads and unloads trucks with logs, brush and debris and feeds brush into chipper machine. Uses hand lines to lower limbs and equipment from elevated surfaces in trees. Education and/or Experience Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Tree Trimmer (Non-Driver) Language Skills Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, and calculate area and volume. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Depending on geographic location, Current Driver's License, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ISA Certified Arborist attainment may be required or desired.
