The Regional Meat Trainer will place a strong emphasis on training and problem solving in the Meat, Poultry and Fish operations to achieve maximum sales and profits by reducing shrink and controlling labor costs. Partnering with Store Managers, Meat Managers and Regional Managers to enhance supervision and support of the Meat Department in compliance with expectations and standards while executing established merchandising guidelines and business plans set by the Director of Meat. This position also performs the same physical duties as a Meat department team member.

Essential Functions

  • Support and continuously develop relationships with store management team; act as liaison between the stores and corporate office
  • Train Meat Department Team Members how to make sausage and the proper sea food handling techniques; be able to process and merchandise primal cuts of meat
  • Notify Meat Managers of upcoming demos and promotional activities; assist management team in increasing sales and profitability
  • Assist Category Management with development and maintenance of category business plans specific to Sprouts that focus on sales volume and profits through the entire supply chain
  • Implement category strategies specific to Sprouts for Deli-Bakery products
  • Organize and implement off-shelf merchandising according to display planner for Meat products
  • Assist Category Manager in promotional planning process for Meat product to encourage the stimulation of sales
  • Work closely with retail training and operations to support Meat business plans and strategy
  • Partner with operations and vendor community to ensure proper implementation of category/corporate initiatives for Meat product
  • Maintain and update Sprouts policies for Meat operations and product
  • Participates in budgeting, forecasting and achievement of sales, gross margin, labor and supply expense percentages, as well as other expenses for the Meat departments
  • Assist department in keeping shrink within acceptable budgeted guidelines
  • Support training and compliance of sanitation and food safety policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or a related field preferred; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of previous management experience required; experience in retail grocery preferred
  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills with an ability to champion new ideas
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays

  • Travel to/from meetings and to various locations; domestic travel may be required
  • Weekend, evening and holiday work required
  • Minimum age for employment is 18
  • Must be able to lift/carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs., from 4” to 60”, a distance up to 10 feet for 20 hours
  • Must be able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs., requiring a force of up to 85 lbs., a distance up to 100 feet for up to 5 hours
  • Will need to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force up to 25 lbs., for a distance up to 50 feet for up to 10 hours
  • Must move tables weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force greater than 35 lbs., a distance up to 2 feet for up to 1 hour
  • Must vertically pull down gate requiring a force up to 10 lbs., for a distance up to 3 feet for up to 1 hour
  • A bilateral coupling force up to 30 lbs. for up to 100 hours is required
  • Will need to use a 2 step stool for up to 10 steps per hour per shift
  • Capable of standing for up to 4 hour continuously, and a total of 8 hours per shift is a must
  • Will be working inside a temperature controlled area
  • Good vision is required for using sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine and tenderizer
  • Will walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours
