A pharmaceutical comapny located here in Raleigh is looking to bring on a Clinical R&D Project Financial Analyst will support project team(s) to execute project plans for key drug development initiatives by providing process/project management and financial analysis expertise to meet corporate deliverables.

Specific responsibilities include (but not limited to):
* In collaboration with Senior Director, Project Management, support project team(s) in developing and executing drug development project plan, budget and integrated timelines
* Receive, review and process R&D invoices; track and reconcile expenses against budgets; resolve outstanding issues and act as point person for related inquiries, both internally and externally
* Monitor project expenses against budgets for variances, milestone achievement, potential out of scope conditions; alert manager of findings
* Support manager in tracking, confirming and resolving discrepancies in outsourced vendor expense activity, particularly contract research organizations
* Interact with clinical operations team to track site and patient visit activity; prepare patient payment statements
* Prepare required support documentation and collaborate with Finance team and department managers for monthly and quarterly financial closings
* Develop and maintain tools (spreadsheets, reports, slides) for financial and project reporting as new needs arise
* Support development project team; maintain project timelines, track project activities and deliverables, set agendas for project team meetings, facilitate meetings, and develop minutes
* Anticipate, identify, and promptly resolve discrepancies in priorities, plans, and activities
* Perform analytics to support vendor budget reviews and selection process
* Support contract finalization efforts including final compilation, sign-offs and document control
* Maintain electronic and paper files of final contracts/budgets; ensure Finance receives appropriation documentation
* Serve as primary backup to manager to present project status and financial analysis findings to project team and/or senior management as needed
* Participate in development of tools, processes and standards for project management, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and audit support

Requirements
* BS degree, preferably in a related scientific field, finance or accounting
* 5+ years experience in clinical research/drug development, 2-3 years experience in cross-functional project teams in biotech and/or pharma-related industry
* Strong understanding of accrual accounting as it relates to drug development and clinical operations
* Understanding of functional area roles, responsibilities and interdependencies of the drug development process
* Advanced competency working in MS Excel, both building and maintaining spreadsheets; proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint; experience with MS Project
* Demonstrated organizational and numeracy skills with exceptional attention to detail
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
* Self-starter, independent thinker and deadline driven; able to effectively operate independently and as part of a team
* Ability to positively influence others towards the best interest of company and product goals while keeping the attainment of project milestones on track
* Ability to adapt to a changing work environment is essential
* Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* A can-do attitude and an ability to demonstrate creativity, initiative and independence in resolving project issues towards program and business goals
