Structural Welders Job Description

• Welding metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes

• Performing related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding

• Repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes, and increasing the size of metal parts

• Routine exposure to wet or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts

• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration

• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud

Job Requirements

• Must be able to weld components in all positions (flat, vertical and overhead)

• GTAW/TIG and SMAW/STICK processes required

• Minimum 4 years verifiable, relevant and recent shipboard experience

• Must be able to pass a background check

• Must pass a drug screen

• Reliable transportation required

• Must be able to work assigned shift and overtime as needed

• Must be able to obtain a RAPIDGate Badge

• Must be willing to pass an onsite weld test and have weld PPE

• OSHA 10 Maritime Card ideal

• Respirator fit a plus
