Description

Information Security Manager

The Information Security Manager (ISM) position reports to the Director, IT Security & Compliance within the Information Technology department and is a key member of the IT Security & Compliance team. The ISM will act a liaison between the IT Security & Compliance team and stakeholders from key business functions including Corporate Audit, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, and other business stakeholders throughout the organization.

The ISM must be able to understand IT-risk requirements and constraints of the business and be able to articulate them cohesively into technical controls, processes and specifications, as well as help develop metrics for ongoing performance measurement and reporting. The ISM will work with other members of the IT Security & Compliance team to identify, evaluate, and assess security risk throughout the business environment and provide regular status and service-level reports to management.

The ISM role requires both a strong technical background and business acumen, as well as an ability to work with multiple internal stakeholders and key strategic partners. In addition to supporting IT Security policies and strategies, the ISM must be able to prioritize work efforts — balancing operational tasks with longer-term strategic security efforts. Experience with project management and IT Security consulting would be helpful.

Strategic support responsibilities:

· Work with IT Security & Compliance team to address identified risks and business security requirements.

· Assist in gathering, analyzing and assessing the current and future threat landscape, as well as providing the Director, IT Security & Compliance with a realistic overview of risks and threats in the enterprise environment.

· Monitor and report on compliance with security policies, enforcement of IT security, and control standards.

· Propose changes to existing policies and procedures to ensure operating efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Security liaison responsibilities:

· Assist in evaluating and responding to security and control issues raised by internal and external audit and risk teams.

· Provide security communication, awareness, and training for audiences including all levels of DPS leadership.

· Manage production issues and incidents, and participate in problem and change-management forums as necessary.

· Work with various stakeholders to identify information asset owners to classify data and systems as part of a control framework implementation.

· Assist the Director, IT Security & Compliance in the information security governance process.

· Work with business stakeholders to define metrics and reporting strategies to effectively communicate successes and progress of the security program.

· Provide support and guidance for legal and regulatory compliance efforts, including audit support.

Architecture support responsibilities:

· Ensure that security is factored into the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration of hardware, applications and software.

· Recommend and coordinate the implementation of technical controls to support and enforce defined security policies.

· Ensure convergence of business, technical and security requirements.

· Develop a strong working relationship with key IT strategic partners to help develop and implement controls and configurations aligned with security policies and legal, regulatory and audit requirements.

Operational support responsibilities:

· Assist Security & Compliance team members in the management, support, and administration of key systems, including host based change detection and access certification systems.

· Review and evaluate outsourced vendors’ compliance with contracted information security service-level agreements.

· Assist in the operational components of information security incident management and response as necessary.

· Help maintain a knowledgebase comprising a technical reference library, security advisories and alerts, information on security trends and practices, and laws and regulations.

· Assist in the day-to-day activities involving threat and vulnerability management and identification and evaluation risk exposures and tolerances.

· Provide guidance on IT security matters to IT stakeholders, IT project team members, and end users as necessary.

· Ensure audit trails, system logs and other monitoring data sources are reviewed periodically and are in compliance with policies and audit requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related degree from an accredited institution, OR High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of IT experience in an information security related function

· 3 years of IT experience in an information security related function
