Overview:
To direct, develop and actively manage transportation carrier partnerships, lead negotiations, carrier quality programs, contracts, and network capacityplanning. Partner with operations and the distribution centers to improve cost and service.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and maintain a carrier base that provides the necessary capacity to meet demands, provides competitive rates and an above industry standard of service.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve on corporate carrier relationships at the executive level with all transportation providers.
  • Provide expertise on the transportation industry, to include current market conditions, trends, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate and lead procurement events including request for pricing and reverse auctions for both one way transactional as well as dedicated carriage.
  • Review monthly carrier scorecard reports on carrier performance and identify action plans when performance is not meeting expectations.
  • Interact with different logistics teams to identify areas for continuous improvement and collaborative efforts to implement them.
  • Develop network opportunities with carrier base to facilitate continuous moves and other programs designed to ensure stability of carrier capacity.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to the executive management team as necessary.
  • Ensure carrier contracts reflect terms and conditions that will maximize protection, and consistent with industry practices.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or other related field and 7+ years of experience in transportation carrier negotiations; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in transportation carrier program development and carrier contract management
  • Proven success with developing carrier executive relationships
  • Knowledge of specialized demands in retail transportation.
  • Successful delivery of results with formalized bid packages.
  • Deep knowledge of pricing structure and regulations in the industry
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead, facilitate, influence, and organize.
  • Strong computer skills. Proficient with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Experience with CRM, ERP, WMS and TMS system required.
