SUMMARY
Maintains all Broadcast I.T. technical facilities, equipment and software applications for local news operations under the direction of the Broadcast Information Technology Manager, includes but not limited to workstations, servers, phones, networks, databases, automation systems, and video and editing equipment. Ensures these systems are optimally functioning, maintained, kept up to date and secured in a 24/7 News environment. Candidate must be able to work in an organic environment dealing with complex broadcast I.T. problems. The individual must be able to quickly diagnose and implement fix agents or develop alternate methods to overcome technical problems to maintain continuity in on-air broadcast.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Maintains and repairs Broadcast IT equipment and network infrastructure supporting 24/7 news production and origination.
- Coordinates repair of equipment with outside vendors.
- Works with all users to determine technical needs and concerns. Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel, both in person and on the telephone.
- Documents and maintains equipment maintenance history database and generates status reports for both users and supervisor.
- Provides primary vendor interface for troubleshooting complex system issues.
- Resolves software problems beginning at the lowest level (user - tech - vendor.)
- Installs and upgrades systems components and software as directed.
- Fabricates cables and small part modifications.
- Ensures that disaster recovery methods are accurate and accessible (Back-ups.)
- Insures adherence to corporate I.T. policies and best practices for network security.
- Closely work with multiple service providers in aintaining station ' s WAN connectivity to outside world
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that works well with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and vendors.
- Will troubleshoot equipment and recommend appropriate solutions including vendor repair, in house repair or equipment replacement.
- Will routinely review software, work stations and develop and carry out regular maintenance schedule.
- Works closely with the Engineering staff to develop proficiency resolving engineering and IT issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum two year degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience in a Broadcast environment. 4 year degree preferred.
- At least 2 years experience in Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field.
- Knowledge of Windows 7 and XP workstations.
- Knowledge of Windows 2003/2008 server and SQL Enterprise server a plus.
- Must be familiar with TCP/IP Network topologies, VLANS and Cisco WAN/LAN switches, routers, firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS) and network monitoring tools.
- Must be able to work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Must be able to meet schedule requirements. Must be able to work weekends. Individual could be asked to be on call. Schedule is subject to change.
- Valid driver ' s license required.
