The NorthPointe Hotel and Conference Center is seeking a dynamic and EXPERIENCED Event Planner. This individual is responsible for coordinating, detailing and executing Wedding Ceremonies, Receptions and Social Events, while maximizing revenues and client satisfaction by working cooperatively with Operations and all other Departments to ensure the highest level of service.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Fantastic customer service ethic, embracing the NorthPointe mission statement with high emphasis on exceeding Clients’ expectations at all times and always providing authentic hospitality to each and every Guest.
  • Responds to Requests for Proposal and inquiries for Wedding Ceremonies, Receptions, and Social Events. Conduct site tours and is always selling NorthPointe
  • Negotiates room blocks, room rates, function space, food and beverage prices and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines. Confirms in writing to the client and all affected hotel departments all group requirements via group sales and catering contracts and booking recaps/group resumes.
  • Meet or Exceed pre-determined site visits and revenue goals.
  • Participates in sales trips and attends trade shows, based on hotel’s budget and marketing plan, to maximize the generation of hotel sales and revenues.
  • Participates in industry and civic organizations and local community functions representing sales opportunities for the hotel.
  • Conducts hotel tours and entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with the company and property policies
  • Assists the Director of Catering in the preparation of the department budget and sales objectives, action plans, and overall strategies of the property.
  • Ensures that current and prospective client databases are maintained, that files are kept current and accessible and that timely sales recap reports are submitted to the Director of Catering.
  • Manage multiple projects and clients at any given time with the ability to adapt fluidly to the changing nature of Social Events.
  • Represent NorthPointe Hotel and Conference Center in appropriate community and industry groups. Work with vendors to gain referrals for future catering events to NorthPointe. 
  • Coordinate and partners with operations managers to ensure groups are properly serviced.
  • Develop the overall requirements needed to flawlessly sell and execute Wedding Ceremonies, Receptions and Social Events.
  • Listen and fully absorb the vision that the Bride & Groom have for their Wedding Reception and develop creative ways to exceed their expectations – ability to always see the Bride’s point of view is a must.
  • Listen and fully absorb the vision that clients have for their Social Event and develop creative ways to exceed their expectations.
  • Along with the Director of Catering, schedule appointments and conduct meetings with Clients to detail Weddings/Social Events and develop diagrams of Event Spaces and Ceremony locations.
  • Plan multiple Group Wedding Tastings throughout the year with emphasis on gathering critical menu information from all guests attending.
  • Assists clients in planning a distinct, sophisticated experience in our award- winning property.
  • Establishes presence during special events, which primarily occur on Friday and Saturday evenings, as NorthPointe hosts an average of 100 weddings per year.
  • Position is a very physical and hands-on job where you will be working with clients the day of their event as well to deliver the upscale and sophisticated event promised.

  • Participating in NorthPointe’s Manager on Duty Program.
  • Any other tasks assigned to you by management.

Requirements

  • Affiliations and Memberships with local Industry Associations such as ISES, NACE & WPC a plus.
  • Must have solid experience to be able to confidently carry out the primary responsibilities listed above.
  • At least 2-5 years work experience in catering/event planning in the hospitality or related industry.
  • Experience with Delphi and Maestro operating systems preferred.
