Key Responsibilities

Manage local freight and traffic, excluding contract negotiations.

Process orders both domestic and international, and review all document to insure both DOT and IMDG rules and regulations are adhered to.

Recommend alternate freight strategies to save costs.

Remain current regarding transportation regulations including DOT and IMDG. Assume responsibility for hazardous material transportation packaging requirements. .

Review all orders to insure they are consistent with management directions, communicate to the CSR’s and or sales team of any shipping related problems.

Ensure inventory accuracy by performing cycle counts on a regular basis.

Manage consumable levels and all PPE.

Generate reports to assist PPG management in identifying opportunities for improvement as well as measure current practice.

Provide support for export team by reviewing and modifying export documents as needed.

Ensure that warehouse inventories are maintained in a saleable condition and recorded accurately. Identify and disposition aged and damaged products. Ensure proper rotation of stock so as not to create problems with expired shelf life.

Manage warehousing, shipping, receiving, and clerical activities as necessary to support the PPG’s business requirements. Monitor manpower and equipment needs and make recommendations for requirements necessary to support PPG business. Recommend schedule changes, and personnel changes.

Maintain and manage local employee files and work at the direction of HR on any employee related issues

Train and mentor employees, hold safety meeting as part of normal on going employee awareness and growth within PPG

Develop or assist in the development, and maintain shipping policy and procedures (i.e. blocking and bracing techniques to be employed, establishing staging area for carriers, etc.).

Qualifications

Experience and Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred but not required. Two to Five years applicable experience in distribution, logistics or manufacturing. Strong computer and analytical skills to manage a variety of computer applications and databases
