Key Responsibilities


Incumbent reports to the Sourcing Manager – TSS. Incumbent works directly with Sourcing Manager – TSS and others in a team environment to provide purchasing service/support to corporate facilities.

A primary responsibility is to assist TSS Sourcing Team with the timely response to quotations for TSS business opportunities, both in the U.S. and international locations, for Aerospace chemical products. Duties may also include, maintaining supplier information within multiple systems, providing purchase order entry support, order management support for Non US ASC’s for TSS products, creation and/or analyzing of purchasing/spend reports, and training to PPG personnel as requested.
Incumbent will personally respond to inquiries based on knowledge of functional area, assist in the preparation and handling of bidding, generate correspondence, assist with outgoing mail, perform copying/faxing, and assist with other administrative support tasks as may be requested by Supervisor. Must maintain confidential information appropriately, and maintain all contracts, quotation and purchase order files to facilitate rapid retrieval while meeting PPG record retention guidelines.

Incumbent must be willing and able to conduct direct negotiations with outside suppliers on a regular basis. In doing so, incumbent is expected to be able to personally influence outcomes through persuasion. The incumbent may also provide relief for exempt and non-exempt absences as required. This includes taking calls and handling emergencies. The incumbent will assist buyers in the use of systems, office equipment and purchasing procedures. Must comply with PPG Business Conduct Policies and any legal requirements. Implements quality improvement process in daily activities as necessary to develop innovative ways to improve processes and methods of doing business. Incumbent must be able to interact in an efficient, professional, and responsive manner with all levels of PPG management and worldwide suppliers.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

High School degree or equivalent, computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel

Functional and Technical Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, work with minimal supervision, ability to establish work priorities and budget time to effectively accomplish a variety of duties in a timely manner, ability to guide field personnel and suppliers in coordinating various projects. Knowledge of MFGPRO/QAD is desirable, as is a working knowledge of computer operating systems. Incumbent should have a strong desire for continuing personal development and project professionalism in all business activities. Previous knowledge of Purchasing and Distribution areas is desirable.
