Pittsburgh based Steel fabrication company is seeking a Production Control Assistant POSITION SUMMARY: A production assistant is responsible for assisting the production control supervisor in various technical and administrative tasks. Specific duties of a production assistant include assisting with shop loading, monitoring program schedules, assisting project managers and shop supervisors with work kit preparation, handling day to day administrative tasks in the division, acting as a liaison between production control and manufacturing, ensuring that all the raw materials are stocked in appropriate quantities, availing the workers and technicians with the required material. Responsible for issuing and tracking work orders, ensuring that required material is supplied to the production floor, as according to the production schedule. Other responsibilities include expediting and prioritizing work orders. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 1. Interface with manufacturing personnel, purchasing personnel, etc. on material status and production planning issues. 2. Analyze work orders and blueprints to define information, like material to be used, type of operations plus sequence of operations required. 3. Identify anomalies in the data gathered, make necessary corrections and/or alert the required department(s) of these issues. 4. Work with multiple departments to gather product specifications and ensure required documentation is completed. 5. Plan and manages production schedules to ensure 100% on-time delivery of all customer orders. 6. Responsible for the analysis of sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements. 7. Complete shipping information and delivery date input. 8. Order floor stock with shelf life material for production. 9. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly required to sit or stand and move about the facility. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: ? Post high school degree preferred ? 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. ? Experience with purchasing, expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing safety practices and MS Office applications preferred.
