The Communications Specialist will write and coordinate content for the community and state provider newsletters as well as the provider welcome kits and other general assignments, materials and special projects.


 


The Communications Specialist will provide strategic direction for the publications/materials/projects/assignments, and build relationships with business partners throughout UHG. The individual will be expected to work with the production team (graphic designers, printers, etc.) to ensure the best means of branding and distributing the materials. This individual with also work with the provider web development team to provide meaningful content for providers to the site.

The Communications Specialist will be expected to actively participate on various work groups and committees throughout UHG to ensure that issues/programs affecting providers are communicated effectively in the distribution channels mentioned above. This individual will provide input that offers value to projects being handled by fellow members of the provider communications team.

Positions in this function design and coordinate company communications, including internal and/or external communications. Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures and monitoring company media, which may include company websites. May manage public relations activities, including public information and shareholder information services.


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Developing communications

  • Collaborating with stakeholders

  • Obtaining appropriate approvals for distribution

  • Determining distribution channels

  • Overseeing production and final distribution of materials

  • Implementing policies and procedures on development, approval and distribution of materials

  • Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed

  • Works with less structured, more complex issues

  • Serves as a resource to others

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years experience using written and verbal communication skills

  • 5+ years project management skills

  • 5+ years experience in Assessing and interpreting customer needs and requirements

  • 5+ years experience solving moderately complex problems and/or moderately complex analyses

  • 3+ years experience providing coaching and feedback to less experienced co workers

  • Ability to use collaborative skills

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree or 5+ years managed care experience

  • Medicare Advantage experience
