The Senior Web Application Support Engineer position is responsible for providing business service level support from an operational standpoint for business and mission critical systems and applications. The ideal candidate will work with senior developers, QA and infrastructure architects to ensure smooth deployment of all systems and/or applications from development, test and production. The Senior Web Application Support Engineer uses enterprise monitoring tools in an effort to support business services and their SLAs. The psoition provides application owners with capacity planning, performance reports and operational reviews to assist the development teams with performance improvements and bug fixes. The role is responsible for the ongoing support and enhancements to the development environments and the build process. This position reports within the IT organization under the Application Support team. Significant interaction with IT Management, IT Developers, IT Help Desk, IT System and Network Operations, and Specific Business Units is essential to the candidate’s success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide liaison support between various operating departments and their support staff
  • Assists lead and manager to ensure that appropriate IT resources are available to meet business requirements by planning for additional resources as current system resource utilization begins reaching the point of full capacity
  • Rotation of 24/7 On Call support
  • Leads Efforts to provide application support and issue resolution of Development, Staging, and Production environments
  • Adhere to ITIL based change control management and process
  • Create and update Documentation for Operational and DR support of environments
  • Serves as support engineer in problem resolution among End Users, IT Help Desk, Infrastructure Operations, and Vendors
  • Performs load testing for releases to business applications and services
  • Performs root cause analysis using tracing, analysis and debugging methods
  • Plays key role in managing the quality of business services by maintaining service level agreements between IT and the business
  • Proactively maintains the availability of information and services to ensure that they are consistently delivered to the level of availability required by the business through Enterprise monitoring for systems, applications, databases & network availability
  • Service Continuity Management - DR planning and support for business services and applications
  • Provide assessment, design, execution and project management of key infrastructure related initiatives:
    • Create detailed infrastructure architecture diagrams
    • Develop and document infrastructure configurations
    • Develop and document standard operational procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization on a technical and business level is critical.Must possess excellent oral and communication skills with a proven ability to successfully work with other team members across departments and levels of authority
  • Experience in Project Management of projects that include business and IT resources
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience supporting application in a Windows Enterprise Environment
  • Experience in supporting all of the following platforms is required -Debugging is a plus:
    • IIS6, IIS7 Web Application Farms
    • ASP.NET., WCF Services, XML, SOAP, Com+
    • Development Life Cycle Management systems, (ex. Team Foundation System, Visual SourceSafe)
    • MSMQ
    • SMTP
  • Understanding of network topologies, and how to analyze network traffic
  • Thorough understanding of Load Balancing Methodologies
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • 10+ Years working in the information systems industry
  • Experience architecting enterprise wide Infrastructure solutions
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, WINS services
  • Working knowledge of SAN/NAS systems in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting language
  • Experience with designing and supporting solutions using the SMTP protocol
  • Experience with application layer protocols: SNMP, SSH, TELNET, RPC, FTP, HTTP, TLS SSL
  • Knowledge of server and network security provisions
  • Deep technical expertise in hosting application with IIS
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proven hard worker with ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Learns quickly and can function with minimal supervision
  • Strong initiative, commitment, and a positive “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Ability to use architecture efficiently and effectively

  • Citrix Metaframe/XenApp
