This employee will be responsible for applying strategic thought and technical knowledge to the emerging debit payments products space to develop and coordinate winning payments strategies.

• Evaluate emerging payments innovations to favorably position or differentiate PULSE and Discover Debit EMV chip card products, and mobile Secure Element and Host Card Emulation embodiments.
• Advice and guide product managers on opportunities and implications of emerging technologies on their products.
• Recommend improvements and enhancements to PULSE network strategies and product solutions to product managers in the product development stream to accelerate adoption of PULSE network participation and PULSE products.
• Collaborate with Discover Network Emerging Products counterparts to ensure that PULSE business requirements are integrated into Discover enterprise payments initiatives.
• Will lead technology strategy and collaboration from a PULSE standpoint, working with Discover emerging products counterparts as well as with the technical and process specialists at Discover as needed.
• Will also take a lead role in representing PULSE at major mobile payments and chip card industry forums, planning meetings and similar industry workshops.
This manager will be responsible for the most complex and strategic business partners and the most challenging implementation situations.
• Works independently in highly complex situations.
• When the situation warrants, this manger is responsible for identifying additional resource and expertise requirements and securing them for the project..
• Participates in determining objectives for the assignment. Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives
• Works independently on extremely complex projects in their area of specialty.
• Highly skilled with extensive experience and proficiency in area of specialty.

• Assignments are quite varied and highly complex with few standard procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in computer/electrical engineering or computer science, or equivalent technology expertise acquired through work experience

Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in product development in mobile payments and/or mobile platforms or in payments systems integrations to mobile environments

• The ideal candidate will have experience and/or a working knowledge of payments tokenization and the associated payments token standard managed by EMVCo.

• Advanced written and verbal communications skills, exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, and a proven ability to influence and communicate effectively up and across functional areas

• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences in a sales oriented manner

• Understanding of EMV, mobile payments technology, including NFC, secure elements, host card emulation, contactless payments, remote payments, and in-app payments
• Working and demonstrable knowledge in Java and C# programming languages.
• Working and demonstrable knowledge of SOAP and XML languages/protocols
