The NaviCloud Sphere team is a diverse group of software developers responsible for maintaining and enhancing one of NaviSite ' s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) products. The team is an adaptable, ambitious group of individuals who are utilizing Scrum to develop software within a dynamic business environment. The team currently has an opening for a new Scrum Master. The right person for this role will focus on guiding the team towards improving the way they work, while maintaining a sustainable pace and positive work environment.
Primary Duties:
- Strongly serving and supporting the Product Owner and Development Team, using a servant leadership style and leading by example.
- Guiding and coaching the Scrum Team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum principles and how to get the most out of self-organization
- Removing impediments that are impacting the team and/or organization
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem solving and forward momentum.
- Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Facilitating the Scrum rituals: daily stand-up, sprint demos, sprint retrospectives, sprint planning
- Maintaining relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing
- Supporting the Product Owner with refining and managing the product backlog, including facilitating regular backlog grooming meetings with the team
- Ensuring effective cross-team coordination
- Sheltering the team from external interferences
Required Skills/Experience:
- Experience as a collaborative team leader
- Knowledge of Agile Techniques and Practices
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Willingness to continually learn new patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps in Scrum (ie. Numerous Burndown techniques, retrospective techniques, approaches for handling bugs, etc)
Preferred Skills/Experience: (Any of these is a plus)
- First level Scrum Master certification (PSM 1, CSM)
- Experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team
- Background in software development or understanding of software development processes and procedures
- Understanding of fundamentals of iterative development (experience on a Scrum team would be ideal)
- Understanding of the value of commitments to delivery made by a Scrum team
- Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
