Position Summary

This position will be a senior member of the Time Warner Cable National Network Operations and Engineering - Enterprise Data Center team. This team is responsible for n
etwork design, implementation, and operations, of the Time Warner Cable national enterprise data centers.

Time Warner Cable utilizes Juniper SRX firewalls, Cisco Nexus 7k/5k/2k switches, and F5 server and global server load balancers.

Essential Job Functions:

This position is responsible for the day to day network operations of multiple national data centers. Responsibilities include:

- Advanced F5 server and global server load balancing request fulfilment and troubleshooting.

- Advanced Juniper SRX firewall change request fulfillment and troubleshooting.

- Troubleshooting and response to network incidents and problems including afterhours support via on call rotation.

- Working with our internal customers to gather complex network requirements to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable networking designs.

- Produce detailed design documents such as Visio diagrams, IP spreadsheets, device descriptions and narratives

- Creating extensive architecture and design documents.

- Provide Tier III support for the enterprise IT network

- Participate in the maintenance of a large enterprise network which includes an Enterprise WAN, three corporate data centers, remote access, and several corporate campuses.

- Implement and troubleshoot server load balancing

- Troubleshoot network communication problems as they relate to routing and switching

- Correlate detected network events to identify potential problems or root causes

- Assist application and system owners in troubleshooting problematic network dependent applications

- Serve as a tier 3 functional escalation point for tier 2 staff members

- Serve as a functional escalation point for Network Engineers

- Participate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure as required

- Participate in an established on call rotation

- Participate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidents

- Collaborate with the team to insure that an incident ' s underlying problems are managed and resolved

- Implement network change in the context of incident resolution, problem management and service requests

- Be aware of and follow existing network management change procedures

- Provide training to Tier2 staff members

- Work outside of normal business hours when required (scheduled maintenance, outage response, last minute urgent requests)

- Assist with network documentation tasks

Job Requirements:

- 8+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security
o

Including VoIP, advanced firewalling, VPN ' s, enterprise routing and L3-7 switching

- 5+ years in enterprise network design, implementation, and operations

- 5+ years with F5 load balancers

- 5+ years SSL certificate management and troubleshooting

- 4+ years in QOS design and implementation

- 4+ years in BGP and OSPF

- 4+ years in firewall technologies

- At least one of the following is required: CCIP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, FNCNP, JNCIS-FWV

- Expert level network documentation skills including master skills with MS Visio

- Strong oral and written skills

- Strong leadership skills

- Expert level of familiarity in implementing and troubleshooting Juniper firewall appliances including SSG, 200, ISG, and 5000 series.

- Unix and Linux system administration familiarity

- Working familiarity with at least two of the following: Perl, PHP, Python, or TCL (as it relates to Expect)

- Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to identify root cause of illusive problems through packet capture analysis.

- Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to provide insightful analysis based on packet captures.

- Extensive experience implementing and troubleshooting highly available firewall clusters

- Expert understanding of IPsec VPNs as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience.

- Expert understanding of popular network communications protocols such as DNS, RPC, HTTP etcetera

- Expert understanding of Ethernet and the surrounding technology such as Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1w, 802.1d)

- Expert understanding of RIP and OSPF as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience.

- Professional level understanding of MPLS networks and Layer3 VPNs (RFC 2574bis)

Preferred Qualifications:


- CISSP is preferred

- Juniper, Cisco, and Brocade certifications preferred

Education and Experience:
Bachelor ' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training,
education and experience.
