About this job

The Cook assists the prep cooks and line servers  in the preparation and service of menu items and performs a number of kitchen activities including pot washing, dish washing, general cleaning duties and storing food and non-food supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the preparation and service of all meats including lamb, beef and chicken using proper handling and monitor critical control points for all cooking on grills, fryers, and stove top.
  • Preparation of all hot food items such as soups, grilled meats, etc…
  • Follow recipes to ensure a consistent, high quality product
  • Produce any and all products prep cooks need to complete their products such as cooking chic peas for hummus and falafel
  • Assist in receiving of all deliveries and properly store when checked in following all storage guidelines
  • Follow proper personal hygiene and uniform policies
  • Prepare and store all foods properly according to health department requirements
  • Assist in keeping walk in cooler clean and organized and food properly rotated
  • Follow all rotation guidelines to avoid unnecessary waste and expense
  • Keep all equipment cleaned and sanitized and ready for the next use
  • Follow all cleaning and sanitizing procedures according to the master cleaning schedule
  • Assist in keeping the dishes, pots, pans and other equipment washed and properly stored
  • Empty the trash when necessary from kitchen and from dining area
  • Assist in removing of soiled dishes from the dining area when necessary
  • Assist in keeping the hot line and cold lines full and rotated during service times
  • Assist in keeping all temperature / production logs current
  • Fill out meat yield charts to ensure best possible yields are being achieved
  • Follow safety procedures and report any injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor
  • Work well with other team members to complete all tasks
  • Attend all training and meetings as required by management
  • Complete all opening and closing checklists
  • Ensure every customer enjoys their experience at Babaziki

 Position Qualifications

  • Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Previous kitchen experience or culinary education
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene.
  • Servsafe sanitation certification will be required
  • Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
  • Requires moderate physical efforts, standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 60 pounds
  • Knowledge of all types of kitchen equipment and their operation.
  • Good communication skills to relay essential information to other team members and management

Work Environment. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to work in various temperatures, in a noisy environment, near moving mechanical parts, hot, cold, and dangerous equipment or sharp tools and around fumes, odors, dust or toxic chemicals. Long work hours, scheduled or unscheduled as emergencies arise.
