About this job

The Regional Field Buyer supports the Sr. Merchandising Manager in coordination and management of locally and regionally grown products and programs within each designated market. Under the direction of the Senior Merchandising Manager, the Regional Buyer will investigate sourcing options by market and coordinate sustainable local programs around products that meet Sprout’s standards for quality and food safety.  This position will also provide all necessary direction around product ordering, delivery, and merchandising management at retail. 

Essential Functions

-       Research local and regional grower options for all designated markets within area of responsibility to support a minimum of 15 items during seasonal growing window

-       Working with the Procurement, Accounting, and Food Safety departments, coordinate vendor authorization and set up for designated grower partnerships

-       Collaborate with the Procurement teams for each region to determine approved items as well as delivery mechanisms and schedules to support order and delivery processes for the stores

-       Work directly with suppliers to facilitate collection of item, cost, and delivery information

-       Develop and communicate ordering and merchandising direction to store teams to ensure consistency in program approach and support

-       Primary customer contact person for all distribution centers including: allocation of products to each store, inventory control support, vendor delivery schedule supervision, communication and recover of rejected product, etc.

-       Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files for quantity and cost accuracy

-       Assist the Category Manager with analyzing progress against department’s objectives and initiatives

-       Assist in vendor and new item set up and maintenance processes

-       Assist with all weekly regular and promotional merchandising communication tactics for the regional and store teams

-       Work on location within one of the core markets with consistent travel to other designated regions based on business needs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-       Bachelor Degree preferred  with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Buying; or an acceptable combination of education and experience

-       Ability to successfully manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines

-       Excellent customer service skills

-       Ability to preserve confidentiality of information

-       Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize

-       High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook)
