Description

Medline's tremendous growth has led us to add a new position to our IT Management team. We are seeking a Senior Manager of eCommerce Development to lead Medline's eCommerce business into the future.

This individual will manage and grow a team of IS professionals, set technical strategic direction, interface with counterparts in IS and have primary ownership of the business relationship with Medline’s eCommerce business unit to understand needs and deliver solutions. Medline is continuing to experience aggressive growth in the digital commerce space - and engineering and support for these applications is critical to the success of the business.

The Senior Manager of eCommerce Development must come from the eCommerce space and have a strong technical background in full digital commerce stack including but not limited to eCommerce engines, CMS, DAM etc. Challenges will include an ongoing strategic technology expansion; Team building; Vendor Management; Ability to transform from reactive to proactive approach; Ability to partner with the business in assessing needs and managing expectations for engineering and support solutions for as is and to be states; Ability to partner with Business, Infrastructure and IS leads to accelerate value-creating technology development, while ensuring high quality and performance of production systems. Technology stack can be learned but, must have a record of success in developing the software engineering function and supporting a world class ecommerce operation.

Responsibilities:
• Build and manage a world class team of software engineers to deliver best in class business to business ecommerce experience for Medline
• Ensure the availability, reliability and security of eCommerce sites
• Support robust change and configuration management practices
• Manage service integrator and other technology vendor relationships
• Develop business cases, justifications and cost-benefit analysis for IS spend
• Collaborate with architecture team in devising the best architecture and designs including an emphasis on web services, reusable business functions, frameworks and methodologies
• Manage programs and projects portfolio to ensure timely and successful delivery
• Make technology decisions related to eCommerce environment
• Establish guiding principles and ensure the architecture validity to support business functions and future growth
• Create an agile work environment to deliver programs while balancing time, cost and scope
• Work with internal business users including; Merchandise, Planning, Marketing, User Experience and Finance to continually refine Medline’s eCommerce roadmap as well as provide a world class eCommerce platform for realizing this roadmap
• Develop integrated processes across all eCommerce development functions and collaborate with peers on process for overall digital development processes
• Research and recommend investment, development, installation, and use of technology improvements.
• Mentor and develop team members to enable personal and professional development
• Assess and address team skill and knowledge gaps to ensure the teams consistently have the knowledge, skills and experience to execute Medline’s eCommerce roadmap
• Respond to business critical emergency situations related to support of the eCommerce platform
• Oversee the development and maintenance of technical and process documentation
• Provide oversight for team and project managers relative to developing and managing resource plans
• Oversight and guidance relative to staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
• Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary for the role

Qualification

Qualifications:

• BS in computer sciences or equivalent technical qualifications. Advanced degree (Masters or MBA) preferred
• 4 years experience with Oracle eCommerce Suite strongly preferred (Endeca/ATG)
• 4 years experience with multiple Content Management Systems
• 8 years experience with multiple applications servers (JBoss, Weblogic, IBM Webspehere, Tomcat, Jetty)
• 10 years experience with web servers (Apache, Nginx)
• 5 years in engineering management roles
• 3 years experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Experience with multiple operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows)
• 4 years in delivery of eCommerce Systems
• Understanding of application lifecycles
• Understanding of diverse application development practices (including both waterfall and agile methodologies)
• Experience with databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
• Experience with Mobile development, analytics concepts
• Understanding of financial and revenue models
• Strong prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
• Ability to work with and influence senior management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet applications.
