Warehouse Order Picker

The Crouse-Hinds division of Eaton in Roanoke, VA is seeking driven candidates to fill fast paced positions in the Distribution Center team. Crouse-Hinds is a major player in the industrial electrical product industry and serves, oil, gas, mining and other industries. The positions are in a fast-paced environment where your attention to safety, quality and productivity will greatly impact your success. Some of the key responsibilities of the walk picker position are:

The basic function of the DC Associate is to pick, pack and ship materials and finished goods.

* Use RF unit to determine the correct products to pick.
o Hold the RF unit in hand; point unit at barcodes on product; read screen and press buttons to move between screens.
* Pull product.
o Go to proper location and physically pull boxes off shelf onto rolling cart. Place boxes of product on cart or into a larger box on the cart. Grip, reach and pull products off shelves.
o Remove product from 2nd shelf. Lock cart into position, grip cart handle and step up onto cart to reach product. Remove product from shelf, place on cart and step back down.
o Use "reach stick" tool to reach product located at the back of the shelf. Push button to extend the tool, grab the product with the tool and pull the product toward the front of the shelf. Place product on cart.
* Accumulate orders on cart and transport completed orders to staging area by pushing the cart to the pack out area.
* Process order and pack appropriately.
o Smaller product is moved from the cart and repacked in a larger box. Fill the box with packing materials, tape box closed and place the proper packing list and barcode label on the box. Place order on the small pack conveyor. If the picking associate picks a large pack order, then the associate fills the void in the box with void fill material and then places a shipping label and barcode label on box and pushes cart to conveyor. The associate then tapes the box closed, unlocks the pin, and pushes the box across rollers onto large pack conveyor.
* Observe ALL Safety requirements. PPE includes steel toe shoes and safety glasses.
* After training period, associates are expected to maintain monthly performance and quality standards.
* All DC Associates operate pallet jacks after trained on proper procedures.
o To operate a pallet jack, the associate grabs the handle and repeatedly raises and lowers it to lift pallets off the floor.
* May operate fork lift. Must be certified and fully trained.
* Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:

* Must be able to lift 40 lbs on a regular basis during the entire shift.
* Knowledge of distribution process or ability to learn the distribution process.
* Must be able to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Accuracy is a must.
* Attention to detail required performing duties accurately.
