About this job

-Obtain financial verification and pre-certification as required for patients' visits (90% of day)
-Make over 150 outbound calls per day to insurance companies to get verification and pre certification
-Follow up with patients, insurance companies and managers on status of verification
-Locate, and verify current insurance and demographic information for patient and/or guarantor. Update in system in efforts to support proper bill release
-Document financial and pre-certification information into internal system
-Refer patients to the Financial Counselor to finalize payment for services
-Establishes and maintains proficient level of system knowledge
-Maintain follow-up procedures and working relationships with area responsible for the information, including but not limited to; Medical Records Department, Patient Access, and/or physicians
-Assist with review and follow up of denials and payment discrepancies identified through the denial system
-Follow up with insurance, physicians, and any other area that can validate and assist with actions and information needed in order to properly review, dispute or appealing denial
-Follow up with submitted appeals until a determination is made
-Document all follow up activity in denial system for tracking and reviewing purposes
-Identify trends of denails, provide documentation and offer suggestions for process improvement
-Ensure compliance with all state and federal billing regulations and report any suspected compliance issues to Management
-Completes tasks and assignments in a timely manner. Utilizes time in a constructive manner. Able to act independently when necessary
-Works in conjunction with Utilization Review department
-Needs to be familiar with Medical software program (Medisoft, EPIC, internal hospital billing systems, Microsoft Office, etc.)
