About this job

-Monitor company's system to understand daily and future order planning requirements.
-Utilize system to tender and book orders to routed carriers.
-For non routed lanes, or when the routing guide is not sufficient to obtain coverage, negotiate spot rates (within established guidelines) across the carrier base to obtain the best competitive rate to meet the customer's pick-up and delivery requirements.
-Utilize the system to plan all orders and document all activities in a timely manner.
Participate in regular operation calls with carrier base to understand, negotiate and book carrier capacity for pickup and delivery of shipments.
-Understand transportation rates across modes and lanes to insure all spot rates are competitive.
-Principle liaison between company, customer's buyers, carrier base, customer's vendors to understand and negotiate service requirements. Key methods of contact to include phone & email.
-Provide assistance in any shipment deficiencies investigations and bring them to resolution.
Proactively investigates and resolves delivery, receiving, or shipping related issues that may impact external or internal customers
Communicate any potential service failures to appropriate client contacts.
Produce documentation of all tasks to assist in the training of others. Train others as required.
-Prioritize tasks in order of importance while handling frequent interruptions due to telephone calls and requests for information
-Ensure that all assigned system transactions are completed in a timely manner and produced output is error free
Coordinate with the commercial operations staff to maintain the highest level of service standards on all shipments
Work cooperatively and productively with
-Functional Leads and other associates in order to complete tasks
-Provide backup support to other logistics coordinators and team members.
-Provide support for all other tasks as assigned
-High school graduate and a 4 year college degree preferred.

Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated organizational and negotiation skills required.
Logistics and transportation experience preferred.
Knowledge of logistics and transportation documents, terminology, and principles is strongly preferred
Strong oral communication skills, particularly when dealing with a variety of people and situations over the phone. (Customer service roles are very analogous.)
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple critical projects simultaneously. Good analytical skills.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook PowerPoint & Excel.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to quickly adjust to changing tactical situations as necessary.
Ability to work with no direct supervision.
Capability to make adjustments to plans on an "on demand" basis
Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
Analytic ability to research errors and recommend corrective actions
Ability to coordinate with other departments to resolve issues
Self-motivated with the ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes.
Ability to present oneself and communicate in professional, positive, and courteous manner at all times with all levels of customers, vendors, and visitors.
Possess aptitude to maintain timely, complete, and accurate records
